Arik Morgaine—Demigod bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks?

Excerpt:

Gentle fingertips grazed the edge of her jaw, trailing down her neck to her collarbone. His citrine gaze stared deeply into her eyes, and her body heated at his tender touch.
“You’re okay, yeah?” Thaene asked, his voice hoarse from their lovemaking.
Am I okay? She hardly knew. Though she had nothing to compare it to, this feeling was more than giving her virginity to him. Quinn felt like something bigger inside had stirred to life, wanting to escape.
You know I love you. I’m sorry if it hurt.” He kissed her again, his lips caressing hers, as if he could take the ache away. “Say something, Quinn. Please.”
I love you, Thaene.” She pressed herself into him, passionately returning his affection. As their kiss continued, Quinn wondered if he wanted more. She also wondered if she had more to give.
I want us together, always. Do you want that, Quinn?” Thaene’s eyes danced with a mixture of emotions—love, passion, possessiveness, and something else she couldn’t name.
We can have forever. You want that, don’t you?” Thaene asked.
Yes,” Quinn answered breathlessly, before realizing what she’d agreed to. She smiled, finding his need for her exciting. “Forever is a long time. But I could do it with you.”
Thaene smiled back. Happiness lit his face. He looked like he’d just won a major prize—he looked triumphant.
Being with you on your twenty-second birthday was very special to me. You’ve given me such a precious gift.”
I love you. I can’t imagine my first time with anyone else.”
Besides, my gift of Sight showed you to me, over and over. How could I not give myself to you?
Her gift had shown her something else as well. Since she didn’t understand it, Quinn ignored it. She’d followed her heart where Thaene was concerned. Not even her mother’s dislike—or in spite of it— changed her mind. Following your heart always led you down the right path.
Thaene lightly brushed her hair from her face, then he rested his forehead on hers.
There’s something else I’d like you to give me. Will you do that? Give me what I desire the most?”
The longing in his voice made Quinn squirm underneath him. Right now, she’d give him anything.
It’s the most precious gift of all. One I’ll cherish forever.”
Oh my God. He wants to marry me.
Yes,” Quinn said, drawing in a breath. “I’ll give you anything.”
Good.” Thaene nuzzled her neck. “I want you to show me your Magyk.”
What?” Quinn blinked at him, wondering if she’d heard him right.
If you want us to have forever, you must show me your Magyk.”

Review of reflections by J. Dorothy

Reflections: Eternal Curse Trilogy
By J. Dorothy

Synopsis:
Jo doesn't know why she inherited a magical ring.
She doesn't know why her father abandoned her when she was a baby, or the truth about her mother's death.
Jo doesn't know a lot about her past.
but she's about to find out.
Nearing her eighteenth birthday, she's about to discover what really happened to her father all those years ago.
She's on a new path, a path including her first love, a path that will lead to the truth about a family secret held for generations.
Jo's about to face her first real challenge.
'Reflections' is just the beginning.

REVIEW:
Reflections is book one of the Eternal Curse Trilogy. It’s a Young Adult Fantasy filled with mystery and magic starring sisters Jo and Gabriella - who couldn’t be more different. Jo is introverted, kind, and the kind to assist when anyone needs it, while Gabriella has more of a controlling and selfish nature wrapped in beauty.

Though I did find the first couple of chapters a little slow, it was still interesting enough to keep my attention. Next thing I knew I was staying up late trying to solve all of my questions: What’s with the rings? Who is Rowellyn? And what will be the outcome of the curse?

The use of magic in this book is different than what I have read, as of late. It is always refreshing to see new ideas and this one doesn’t disappoint. The characters were fun and well rounded, as well as realistic with just as strong secondary characters (My favorites were James and Spencer.). And the more I read the more I found myself falling in love with the relationship between James and Jo, as well as between Jo and her sister, Gabriella.

So sit back and enjoy the ride as J. Dorothy takes us through her world of the Eternal Curse Trilogy with a few twists, sister rivalry, and a little love. If the first one is this good, I can’t wait to read the next book, Shadows.

4 out of 5 stars

Do I Bother You at Night, Horror book Announcement!

After several five-star short stories and novellas, Troy Aaron Ratliff is soon to be releasing his first full-length horror novel, and I can’t wait. Follow along and help me spread the word as I count down till its release on October 4th, 2013. I know I’ll be looking forward to reading it, what about you?

Cover Reveal!
Do I Bother You at Night

Blurb
They say nothing ever happens in Kansas.  Sylvester Petersen used to think so too.  That is, until a mysterious new neighbor moves in next door, seemingly out of nowhere.  His handful of friends – people who tried to help him cope with the sudden death of his wife – think that it might be an opportunity for him to get reacquainted with the world outside his farmhouse and to build a new relationship with his neighbor.  But that idea is soon snuffed out as strange events begin to happen around him.  None of them wrong.  Just strange: driving in the middle of the night, the sulfur-like odor coming off of him, the fact he doesn’t talk to anyone in the area.

And what about that dog?

Sylvester chooses the logical explanation and ignores the peculiar behavior.  But when other oddities start to happen – the kind that affects Sylvester directly – he begins to worry.  His reasoning dwindles and his growing fear points to his neighbor.

Where is that stray dog going?

After enough time, Sylvester starts to see and hear what the people of the area have been muttering about: Unexplainable blue light, corn crops moving on their own…the slaughtered cattle entirely too close to home.

And that stray dog that keeps getting fatter and fatter…

At the peak of summer, and with the walls closing in, Sylvester experiences something that will take him to the brink and haunt you forever.

Bathed in loss, terror, and human spirit, Do I Bother You at Night? will be a story you won’t forget and one that will keep you up at night.

Love thy neighbor.

Barely Beating

Title: Barely Beating (Pulse Trilogy, Book 2)
Genre: New Adult, Paranormal Romance
Word Count: 76,140

Blurb:
After a not so pleasant vacation featuring Elizabeth Parks nearly being killed, she couldn’t be happier to be home. Though, the vacation wasn’t a total bust. She did find herself now dating a deliciously sexy man named Virgil Hart. The only downside was that he was a vampire. Not that it was a big downside, but it did make things more complicated when asked ‘what happened while she was on Vacation?’ Needless to say Elizabeth tries her best to put the whole experience behind her while she focuses on work and maybe about putting her hands on Virgil. What’s a girl to do when he’s walking around shirtless all the time in her apartment?

But is it really that easy to fall back into her old life and put the events of her vacation behind her? Definitely not! It isn’t long before her Pulse radar goes off and her newly formed vampire family is on high alert. What creatures have been stalking them? Are they the real enemy or is there someone much worse lurking just around the corner?

Excerpt:
"You're going to bite me?" Beth's body trembled knowing the answer.
"I will try, but I think I can fight it off long enough to untie you. The moment you are free I need you to grab that knife on the small tray over there. The one I know you have eye balled a few times now." He instructed taking a few long, deep breaths. "Take the knife and don't hesitate to plunge it deep within my chest. Aim for my heart. That should be enough to buy you a little time."

"What?" She gasped looking around the room to the stairs. "Shouldn't I run?"

"I'll catch you and I will kill you." He assured her. "If you don't act fast I don't think I'll be able to stop." Virgil popped his neck and stretched his fingers. He no longer cared about his exposed fangs and he gave up on trying to remove the darkness from his eyes. There was almost no hope now, as his thoughts barely stayed focus long enough to feed Beth the plan.

"I-I can't!"

"Think of me as a monster!" He released a guttural growl. "I'm a monster and I'm going to kill you!" He leaned forward as far as he could to scare her again, back against the chair.

"But... I don't know if I can," she whimpered. She could somehow see what used to be the man before her. Just barely between the cracks of the maddening creature sitting across from her wanting to drink her blood.

"Then you'll die." Virgil's words were cold, but he couldn't fight it off. He didn't have time to sugar coat anything as his insides twisted and he was already picturing how he would rip her apart and lick up the blood from the floor below her remains like an animal.

A steady Pulse, book one of the Pulse Trilogy

Blurb:

There’s no rest for 23-year-old Elizabeth Parks as she soon learns a vampire has picked up on her unusual ability and plans to use her. Why couldn't she have picked a different week for a vacation, she wonders realizing she’s knee deep in a vampire family feud which will cost Elizabeth her life! If they can survive long enough!

Now, Virgil Hart must try to defeat his brother at his twisted games to keep Elizabeth safe, but it’s turning out to be a lot harder than he thought.

Excerpt:
"I must be crazy." Virgil laughed. he wanted to run into her ever since the car ride, but now he was face to face with her he felt unable to do anything more than make her upset. How was he to save her if she wasn't going to listen to him?

"You...you are..." She whispered weakly trying to gather the courage to say what she prayed wasn't true.

"Not going to harm you. Not going to drink your blood. I am not a monster. I am a vampire." He assured her with the best smile he could muster under the circumstances.

"Yeah...." she let out a shaky breath. He understood why her eyes were still searching him. She was looking for anything to prove or disprove what he was saying. So Virgil leaned his head back and lowered his jaw. He extended his fangs out and pushed hard to darken his eyes. What more proof could he give her?

Elizabeth would have fallen to the floor if she hadn't already been sitting, but she stayed facing Virgil, taking one deep breath after the other. he pulled back his fangs and lowered his head. His eyes returned to normal and the space between them grew even more tense.

"I saw a pair like that once," she released a shaky laugh. "It was at a gothic store in the mall...."

"These are-"

"Don't say real!" She snapped. "They can't be!"

Review: The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox

The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Hells Angels, topped with an awesome amount of Magical fun and mischief, and a dashingly handsome man to accompany our heroine, as the cherry on top of the dessert.

It can’t be helped to instantly fall in love with this fun and exciting read after meeting an old biker lady claiming to be Lizzie’s grandmother who shows up on the day of her birthday locking her in her own bathroom to protect her from a supposed demon. That’s the last time she lets any strangers into her house claiming to be family! But boy, was the old bag right! At the very second of her birth on her 30th birthday her powers are unlocked, a demon emerges from the toilet, and suddenly her bathroom is glowing purple thanks to a jar of-you don’t want to know.

Now, she can understand every word her dog says, she’s running from demons, being saved by a griffin/sexy man, and officially has joined a coven of biker witches. What is the world coming too? Oh yeah, she is also a demon slayer. I can’t forget to leave that part out.

This story has all the makings of being a great television series if I do say so myself.

To fight demons she must learn and follow three truths, accept the universe, look to the outside, and sacrifice yourself. Nothing about these three truths comes easy to Lizzie, but as she starts to gain experience and begins to open herself up and embrace them she will find that within her is the potential power she will need to wield if she wants to succeed. But she better hurry! Grandma’s in hell, She’s linked to a Griffin, Wolves our nipping at her toes, and a demons waiting to be defeated. Yep, just another crazy day at the office. J

This is a whirl wind of fun I would recommend to anyone looking for a laugh with a side of romance. It’s filled with great characters (my favorite being the talking dog, Pirate), a strong plot, and an endless amount of surprises! It’s not hard at all to see why I've rated it 5 out of 5.
