I led him into the foyer and shut the door behind him. He followed me to the dining room and when I sat, he took the seat beside me. He caught my eyes and raised his brows expectantly.

“Niamh asked me to go to Tír na n’Óg with her and Liam.”

“What, you mean go right now?” Ethan asked.

I nodded. “She doesn’t want to wait until Aoife makes a move. In a way I agree with her.”

“Did you tell me you needed to talk so you could just tell me you were leaving?”

I glanced up at him. “Yes, I hoped you’d understand.”

“No Allison. I don’t understand,” he said, jumping up so fast the chair nearly fell over.

I hesitated. “Niamh came by after you left last night. I know there’s a lot going on here, but I’ve thought about it all night. The sooner we take care of the threat Aoife poses on all of us, the better.”

Ethan stared at me, his face hard. “I understand that part. But I told you whatever happens, I’m coming with you.”

“What?” I said, shaking my head. “You can’t.”

“Like hell I can’t.” He crossed his arms, eyes narrowed. “You’re not leaving me behind this time.”

The Forgotten One - Book CoverBook One: The Forgotten Ones

Allison O’Malley’s goal is to live a happy life give her mom as much support as she can give her. She doesn’t have time for romance and over complications with a mother who is suffering from schizophrenia and has been taken care of by her grandparents.

But what Allison wants may be up for discussion when her long lost father appears bringing with him the possibility of her mother getting better, but there’s a catch. There’s always a catch. With the return of her father comes hard to believe stories that involve the Tuatha de Danaan, which is hard to swallow until you meet the amazing cast of characters and the abilities they have. Yep, I’m a believer officially after someone begins to read my thoughts and use glamour spells. Sold.

The first 20 % was a bit slower than I would have liked, but it was character building none the less. Just stay with it! Very quickly I fell for Ethan, I loved (Niamh), I disagreed with Allison about sending Liam away at first, and couldn’t get enough out of the Tir na n’Og and the overall plot line.
This was certainly different from my average reads and well worth it. And the great thing is there’s a pronunciation key at the end of the book! Names like Aoife (Ay-fuh. evil witch of a woman!), Eithne (En-ya. Sweet and almost human like), and Aodhan (Ay-den. gotta love him.). I would have never figured it out without them. Well, some of them maybe, but for the most part no. So thank you so much for the help Laura. :)

Overall, this was a wonderful and magically filled book that I’m glad I ended up reading. If you haven’t picked up your copy, what’s stopping you?

4 out of 5 stars

Stone of Destiny - Book CoverBook Two: Stone Of Destiny
Allison O’Malley’s life changed when her father, a man she had seen all her life, suddenly showed up at her doorstep bringing with him the world of Tuatha de Danaan (Faries) and the answer as to why her mother is suffering from schizophrenia. Teaming up with magical people Allison is in the race against the clock to unravel  Aoife’s plot before anyone else is hurt.

In this book it picks up right where we left off in the second, so if you haven’t read it STOP RIGHT NOW!! You need to go back and enjoy the first one to truly understand to the fullest what is going on.

Ethan, a guy who Allison deeply cares for, is acting funny and it may be a person closer to home who is the culprit. And what do you mean Allison has a half-sister?! Who can be trusted as new characters step into Allison’s world forcing Liam and the gang to act faster, but is it a trap and how the heck are they going to survive this?

Yep, I was biting my nails to figure out what was going on. I stayed rooted in my chair until I no longer had feeling in my bum for this book and let me tell you it was worth it! Every agonizing, story building, fun, and plot developing second was well worth the wait.

The world that Laura Howard has created is fun, captivating, and darn it all, makes me want to join the Tuatha de Danaan. With characters that will leave you irritated, awed, and loved I can’t possibly imagine what she will do next to them and to us, the readers. But one thing is for certain, I’ll be in line for book three in this series to find out!

5 out of 5 stars

I Hate Zombies!

Resident Evil Games
Let me share a little fact with you. I love Happily-Ever-After…and when Zombies are involved you can toss that out the window. I just can’t stand how movies work the zombie today. Zombie quarterbacks basically in 28 Days Later series, the Walking Dead is another crazy one. Resident Evil and all the mutating going on make it hard to stay alive depending on your area, but at the same time I guess in the games they aren’t all infected. There is also the latest movie, World War Z which out does the runners in the 28 Day Later!! Can you believe? There was one scene close to the beginning when a man was driving a van and a woman bashing in through the front window biting him. He ends up outside the car and transforms on the spot and proceeded to bash his head against the window of his own vehicle with his screaming friends inside. It was intense.

Let me be clear I HATE ZOMBIE MOVIES but that doesn’t stop me from watching them because I want someone to change my opinion one day. For example, my favorite two movies was Warm Bodies and the original Night of the Living Dead. Can you image if a zombie virus spread and they acted like Night of the Living Dead? I think we could win that one. They are slow moving and as long as we work as a team we could clear cities and clean house. We got this. Granted I never want anything like that to happen it doesn’t stop that little voice in the back of my mind scared it might and praying if it does which one to pick.

Yep, I think like this and I know some of you out there think just like me. :) What movies have I missed and what is your opinion? I’d love to hear what you have to say about movies you love to hate and zombies.

Man, for someone that hates Zombies I sure do torture myself. I’m going to go read more of my Zombie Survival Guide. :)

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Seventeen year old Aqua Vickers lives a secluded life in the English countryside. She keeps herself that way, hiding in plain sight, out of fear. She has no idea where she came from or what she is, she just knows she isn't human. Her mother is convinced she's an angel, but does having wings make you an angel? Sharp, angular and intimidating black wings?

The only other person Aqua has let into her life is Aaron, her best friend. They've grown up together, shared every milestone and Aqua's feelings for him have developed into something more. In a moment of impulse, Aqua reveals her true nature. Aaron freaks, hurting Aqua so badly that she flees into the night.

Lucas has been watching and waiting. As an Angeli Tail it is his job to be a spy; and he's been ordered to watch Aqua. Lost and vulnerable above the clouds, Aqua is reaching exhaustion. When Lucas offers her the answers she seeks, she follows him impulsively.

In a city, carved into the rock of a mountain, Aqua discovers she's not as alone as she thought; and her life has been rooted on a bed of lies and deception. In her absence, her home is attacked and her mother taken. With this new enemy intent on her capture and new family who aren't all welcoming, Aqua must integrate and train with the Angeli Guard if she has any hope of rescuing her mother from the hands of the Dragone.

The Angeli Guard Master is unforgiving and ruthless, allowing Aqua little rest from his relentless and painful training exercises. Aqua can barely stand to look at him, but can't seem to exterminate the butterflies she feels when he's around.

War is coming but Aqua's battles may need to be fought closer to home.

TOUR-EXCERPT

I run for the car. The mass of people is dense and I keep bumping into dancers, drunkards and idiots – slowing my escape. A pair of hands grab my waist, and I think it’s Aaron. “Where’d you think you’re going?” a slimy voice slurs. It’s not Aaron. It’s the perverted creep from earlier with the taking what I’m offering comment. I spin to face him. “Let go of me,” I seethe. He sneers. “Oh come on gorgeous. I just want to see what you’re hiding under there.” Without warning his grubby hands land slap bang on my cleavage. Jerk! I react instinctively, without thinking I pull my arm back and let my fist fly. It lands with a crunch on the moron’s jaw. There’s a sickening crack but that’s not the worst part. He takes off. His feet literally leave the floor as he shoots backwards and lands on his butt ten feet away. The kids around us fall silent and stare. The guy’s sprawled out, he’s not moving but I know he’s not dead because he’s making a kind of gurgling noise. Someone rolls him onto his side but no one else tries to help him. They’re all too busy gawking at me; standing with my feet apart and my hands in fists by my side, my shoulders rising with my heavy breathing. Aaron comes rushing out of the mass then and takes in the scene. I hate to do it to him twice in one night but I turn and run again. This time he follows. “Aqua! Wait. Stop, please!” I hear his voice but keep running. Tears are falling now. I’m actually crying. How humiliating. I have to control my pace. I can run inhumanly fast, it would draw even more attention. I misjudge it, maybe deliberately, and Aaron catches me by the wrist before I get to my car. I glance behind. We’ve run a long way. There’s no one else here; the party’s in the distance, illuminated by the glowing bonfire. I stop, still facing away from him. He keeps hold of my wrist. “What happened?” he asks, concern evident in his voice. I swipe at the tears marring my cheek. “He groped me. I punched him.” I’m still sobbing but trying my hardest to hide it. “Maybe I hit him a bit hard.” “A bit hard? He looked comatose!” He almost sounds proud. “Are you alright? Did he hurt you?” “I’m fine, not hurt.” I turn then. He takes me in, in all my tear-streaked glory. I bet I look hideous. “Aqua... why did you run?” He asks it softly, watching me with veiled eyes. I know we’re not talking about the punch now. I don’t want this conversation though. “Did you see the guy? I could get eight to ten.” I mean it to sound light-hearted but it comes out sombre. He flashes his dimple. “No. Before, after I kissed you. Why did you run?”

Like many a night, he found himself gazing up at her window. Warmth radiated from it. She would be in a chemise, the thin material moulding to her breasts. Unbound hair likely spiralled over her shoulders. Mayhap she had washed and her skin remained dewy and ebony curls clung to her face. A shudder swept through him and his blood boiled. He gripped the pommel of his sword. Lord, give me strength. A movement sent his heart into his throat. His jaw dropped as Katelyn leaned out of the window. Sure enough, white cotton hugged her arms and her hair hung loose. Candlelight surrounded her in a fuzzy halo like an angel. She gazed out into the night, entrancing him. How he longed to know what she was thinking. Did she think of him? Her gaze snapped down, locking onto him. He peered around, realising the torchlight on the walls revealed him. Breath imprisoned in his throat, he met her challenge. Stance strong, chin lifted, he stared her out, waiting for her to crumble and retreat. The air around him became cloying and thick while his pulse pounded sickeningly. His arousal grew painful. Abruptly, she turned away, broke the connection and left him panting and weak. He dropped his shoulders. Damnation. A moment to relieve himself was called for. Should he return to his chambers or just suffer it, like some kind of penance for a desire he should not have? Swivelling, he stomped down the steps into the courtyard. He paused and gritted his teeth. Time alone would not cure him of her. And wine held no appeal any longer. He was lost. The hall doors opened and a figure came barrelling out. He nearly cursed aloud when he realised it was Katelyn. Her chemise flowed around her legs, barely covered by a thin robe. He noted her bare feet and cursed properly this time. What was the lass doing outside in such a state? Before he managed to ask her as much, she flung her arms around him and flattened a desperate kiss to his lips. He caught on quickly. With a growl, he bundled her to him, shaking hands splayed over her back and in her hair. “Hell fire, Katie,” he murmured as he took another kiss from her. Breaking away, he glanced around and shook his head. “What are ye doing? Anyone could see. Gillean could see.” “I care not,” she whispered. When she leaned up for a kiss, he released her, snatched an arm and dragged her over to the stables. One more frantic glance around and he shoved her into the doorway and pressed her against the wall. No candlelight greeted them here, only the glow from the torches outside permeated the building, slipping through the gaps between the wood. It was enough. He saw all he needed. Once more he speared his fingers under her hair, unable to resist those glossy lips, slick from his kisses. Katelyn whimpered when he captured her mouth and curled her fingernails into his back. “Ye play a dangerous game, lass,” he muttered against her mouth. She tugged against the hold he had on her hair and eyed him. “I am no’ afeared of Gillean.” “Ye are, ye cannae lie to me. But I mean with me. Ye play with fire here.” “I need ye, Finn. I am no’ afeared of ye either. I’m willing to risk getting burned.” “Ach, we shall both be burned. No good shall come of this.” His chest heaved at the enormity of it all, at what she said. He’d always known he was secretly weak. His bold endeavours and brash behaviour covered his fears. When others saw a warrior, Katelyn saw him for who he was. Weak for her.

TOUR-EXCERPT
He wanted to say something but suddenly became hesitant. Everything had gone so fast, he didn’t want to spook her. He was unafraid to show her how much he loved being with her, especially since she’d promised to visit him in Coronado and they’d see where things went from there. It would have been like the cart before the horse, but he wanted to ask her to marry him at that impulsive moment, but he held himself back. Being the wife of a SEAL was a special assignment and there was no training for that, except the school of hard knocks. There was a community of wives that looked out for each other. And not all the stories from overseas made it home to them. The smart wives knew this. He knew it was a lot to ask of someone. He didn’t want to fall for a lady who didn’t really understand what she’d be getting herself into. But that was a completely crazy thought, because he’d already fallen for her. He decided he’d just put it out of his mind, and not discuss anything future-related, to keep the pressure off them both. Nothing wrong with having a little bit of—well, a lot of—fun in the next few days before his deployment. He held her under the starlight. Feeling eyes on him, he saw Julie’s parents eyeing him from their kitchen window, smiling. He couldn’t keep up the eye contact because odds weren’t in his favor. He wasn’t prince charming, or Sir Galahad riding in on his white horse. He was just a guy other guys sent in to blow stuff up, grab people and hopefully get out before getting shot or caught. And his intentions, although he liked to think of them as honorable, were merely to do everything in his power to be as irresistible as possible to her so that when he left, he’d be the one hard to miss. And then maybe she’d wait for him. Maybe she’d wait until he got fully well. It was a lot of ifs. The music stopped while he was kissing her ear through her hair, while he was holding her tighter as she melted into him. He liked that they were dancing because their thighs made soft caresses and the dress, that yummy dress, made all that noise. He just knew every time he heard the sound of layers of chiffon, he’d get hard. It was going to be something he’d have for the rest of his life.

BOOK BLURB/SYNOPSIS

Benedict Nowak bailed on his marriage, taking his son with him but leaving behind his five year old daughter. He had his reasons. He had no idea they’d come back to haunt him.

TJ had come to terms with the mother she despised, making those small concessions that made life bearable. But her mother’s death changed everything.

Her brother, Anton, was the parent missing in TJ’s life, until he found a calling in violence, and left his sister at the mercy of shrinks and a mother with ice in her veins.

Roman Rincon was the juvie rescued by Father Marcus and placed in the care of Benedict Nowak. With his records sealed, no one knew what happened that fateful night when Roman was only fourteen. All Father Marcus knew was the boy had confessed to a crime not even the cops would talk about.

In the small coal mining town of Montville, two teens whose lives have been shattered beyond repair must find a way to cope … with school, with each other, with growing up marked as broken in a town dying under the weight of secrets and lies.

Warned off having anything to do with Roman, TJ is all too willing to agree, except for one little thing. The young man lives in the apartment above her father’s car repair business so avoiding him might be a problem.

As for Roman, he will take his secret to the grave, no matter what the cost.

EXCERPT

Forced into making decisions no young girl should ever make, TJ must deal with her conflicted feelings for a mother who cared only for her career and a father who turned his back on his responsibilities. When TJ’s mother dies, the teen must go live with a father who is a stranger, in a town dying under the weight of poverty and ethnic divisions. TJ’s father, Benedict Nowak, has given Roman Rincon sanctuary. Fresh out of three years in juvie, the only friend Roman has is Father Marcus. The priest convinced the court to remand the troubled teen to Benedict’s supervision. Roman has to keep his head down and his nose clean.

This excerpt is the scene when TJ finally gets to meet the elusive teen.

*****

“Come on in, Roman. I want you to meet...” Ben waved in her direction, “…my daughter, TJ.”

The teen stared, eyes a flat obsidian, framed by impossibly long lashes, the thick brownish black brows creased into a single, disapproving line. Deepset, those eyes were all she could focus on, commanding her undivided attention.

Ben rattled on, “TJ stands for Theresa Jane…”

Throat dry, TJ mouthed a ‘hi’ but it died before her lips could form the word. To her surprise her father wasn’t filling in the blanks like she might have expected, spilling all her particulars.

No … her mother just passed. I’m all she has. Well, Tony also. But Tony’s gone, back to his unit. She’ll be going to the high school. We’ll see the prin—

Instead he’d turned back to his task, shoulders rigid with tension. TJ wondered why.

But then she looked closer at the man hiding behind a boy’s lean and lanky frame, at the sharp planes of his high cheekbones, the cruel set to lips just on the edge of full, a hint of a dimple offset by the tilt of his head that spoke to defiance and self-sufficiency.

The hoodie masked all but his face. Short sideburns shadowed by the fleece suggested raven dark hair. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he wore it long, perhaps in a tail. He wasn’t as tall as her father or Tony, maybe five eleven, but she’d thought him bigger the way he commanded a room, like he’d emptied it of air and filled it with his presence, something physical … and something not. That something seemed to hover in the air currents, leaving her feeling like cannon fodder in a bad horror movie.

She felt the catch in her lungs, the sensation of menace, but refused to look away. She knew all about turf wars from her mother: the legal kind with briefs and a quick wit, the other with self-actualization on each side of a tennis court, the advantage always Eleanore. Mostly she knew about negotiating. About trade-offs. Being bought. Staying out of the way. Rigging the balance sheet so losses looked less like failure and more like incremental skirmishes.

Eleanore cooked the legal ledgers to get what she wanted. TJ leaned toward a slightly different interpretation but both had understood a zero sum game.

Roman had that very special knowledge also. But one thing about him was different: he needed no one, he feared nothing. Of that she was one hundred percent sure.

When he turned away and left without a word, she and Ben breathed a sigh of relief.
