Nightmares and Remedies Cover Reveal

Title: Nightmares and Remedies
Series: A Pulse World Novel
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: July 1st 2016

Blurb

Haunted by reoccurring nightmares of silver eyes and sharp fangs, Bethany Jean, is at her wits end. She feels like she’s being watched all the time. At home, in the street; even at work! Nowhere feels safe. But just when she’s considering help for her delusions Bethany comes face to face with a living breathing vampire whose obsession with Bethany is deadly.

Lucas was one of many vampires looking for a murderer, what he didn’t expect was to find the man’s latest victim, Bethany, alive and turned into a vampire! Setting side his attraction for the woman Lucas is forced to take a back seat to finding the vampire at large so that he can watch and explain what’s going on when the woman wakes up, but convincing this woman that he is a good guy and the fact that she is no longer human isn’t going to be a walk in the park.

With a killer on the loose, a house full of vampire testosterone, and Bethany walking around in nothing more than Lucas' shirt, you can guarantee this is going to be one hell of a time and with any luck it could end in their favor. That is, if Bethany realizes that being a vampire has its perks.

Pulse World stories

The Pulse World, though finished for Elizabeth and Virgil in The Pulse Trilogy (A Steady Pulse, Barely Beating, and Flat Line), is still alive and kicking. There are an array of characters that we have yet to truly learn about. Along with stories that are begging to be told. Such as people's histories, how certain couples ended up together, the story that started the war between brothers, and what about some of the adventures of Annette and Andrel?! If you don't know the characters you are missing out! Grab your copy of A Steady Pulse as an ebook for #FREE at Barnes and Noble or a paperback.

Anyway, this is where I am at. I am struggling to figure out what story to tell first. Two are currently colliding with one another, though one is in the led I am beyond excited to get them out! First drafts are so much fun but they are always the messiest and require the most attention. There is so much detail and connections you have to make sure line up within each other, especially when writing scenes that run parallel in another book.

I don't want to give too much information, but I will say this. One story takes place almost a year after the Pulse Trilogy, while one runs parallel to the Pulse Trilogy revealing what happened to a character that should have perished. I know, that could be a few different people, but if you have read book three, Flat Line, I am certain you guessed who. :)

There is plenty more to come, and both of these stories do not have release dates. So I am saying 2016 for now until things become more certain.

See you soon!

the Pulse Trilogy is almost done. :)

The Pulse Trilogy is nearing a close. Once I get Flat Line in my hands I am going to give it one last review before releasing it and then it's onto the next project. There will never be an end to the Pulse World. I look forward to exploring the mystery behind certain characters, but at a later time.

It has been a fun adventure writing about Elizabeth and Virgil. Honestly, It might not be the last. You may glimpse them again in the near future. :)

And as I wait for Flat Line to get here I am reviewing over Guardian, A Fated Pairing line by line to turn it into a paperback. Fourth paperback! Yeah!! Cross your fingers that it will be available in October.

Blurb:
Everything was perfect for Elizabeth and Virgil, who were a week away from getting married. Though Virgil would argue that having his sister help was driving him mad and that he wished Elizabeth would stay away from work. Other than that, Elizabeth couldn’t be more excited! But secretly she was afraid. Her vampire rebirth was just around the corner. Any moment she would start dying. Yes, dying. There was no other word to describe it. And when she woke up, she would either be a psycho blood thirsty killer, a relatively normal vampire like Virgil, or she wouldn’t wake up at all. It could mean the end of everything for her. No pressure.

Not to make a difficult situation worse, but Elizabeth is being followed. Someone else is interested to see how Elizabeth’s rebirth is going to go, and they aren’t willing to wait. Elizabeth and Virgil will have to face their toughest challenge yet. This will be a battle that will push everyone to their limits both mentally and physically.

Will Elizabeth and Virgil finally get their Happy-Ever-After or has fate got another plan in store for them?

When Darkness Falls

Author: Brenda Franklin (Me! Yeah!)
Genre: Scary
Words: 9,790
Price: FREE

There’s a house, much like any other house, sitting at the end of an old road. Neighbors keep to themselves and yet are friendly enough to help if anything happens, but not for this house.

The windows are bared, the doors are locked on the outside, and the yard is one big trap. Signs are posted everywhere in warning as to the danger of crossing into the yard. Warnings of barbed wire fencing, electrical wire, and plenty of surprises that lie in wait within the tall grass.

What could possibly cause a person to do this to their own home? Is there a deranged psychopath lying in wait? A murderer keeping their victims locked away for safe keeping? Or, could something worse be trapped at the end of Cain Road? And what happens if it gets out?

Now, with her ghostly companion at her side she has to not only survive the living, but now the dead as Floaters-gruesome evil spirits - seem to be taking more of an interest in her, but that’s not the only person whose eye has been caught by her.
A mysterious man seems to be following Eve. When confronted, things get even more complicated and she is given an offer that will change her life permanently.
Join Eve as she passes from one world to the next in the first installment in the Middle-Lands series.

-----Excerpt:-----

“You seem to be handling the impossible very well,” Aiden added lowering his hand.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed it yet, but impossible is within my range of possibilities. I’ve always known…no,” she breathed. “I’ve always hoped that there were others. I just… I’m very happy to find another person different.” She hesitated nibbling on her lip. “Are there any others?”
“Lots,” he answered.
“Where?”
“All over, but mostly not here.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean they...” he made a face and paused. Whatever he was going to say drifted off for a minute. “This isn’t my job normally,” he remarked.
“What isn’t?” Eve asked.
“This.” Aiden gestured towards her. “Telling someone, who isn’t familiar about the other realms, about them.”
“That doesn’t make sense.”
“I know. But like I said, this isn’t my job normally.”
“What is your job?”
“I’m a Soul Collector.”
“What is that?”
“I hunt and collect the souls of demons, evil spirits, dark spirits, conjured black souls, and among others things on the darker spectrum.”
Eve nodded. He sounded crazy, but if she hadn’t of witnessed him attacking the Floaters earlier all of this would have been harder to swallow. “And earlier when you stabbed the Floater?”
“I sent him back into the Earth to rest.”
“So colorful lights was?”
“Its soul being taken apart and sent away.”
“Right…”
Eve nodded looking to Marcus who was now all but wall paper in the background listening in closely to all that Aiden had to say.
“How bad has the spirit encounters been?” Aiden asked.
“Getting worse by the hour,” Marcus responded.
“It’s not bad…” she mumbled.
“You are being chased by a Demon and lots of Spirits, I think that counts as bad,” Marcus laughed humorlessly.
“You feel like a magnet.” Aiden said waving his hand over her.
She slapped it away. “Well, I’m not.”
“I beg to differ.”
“What do you mean?” she raised a brow.
“I think it’s you drawing the spirits in. I think something about you is pulling them closer. But what?” He examined her with wonder. Eve felt a pin of uneasiness.
“I don’t know,” she muttered averting her eyes. She locked her fingers together.
“Who are you parents?” he asked.
“Barbra Moore is my step mom.”
“Your real mom and your dad. Who were they?” Aiden demanded as though their names would give all the answers they required.
“I don’t know the name of my real mom, but my dad was Alfred Bradner.” Aiden thought about the names. Neither of which sounded familiar, but he wasn’t an expert in genealogy either. Hundreds of family lines held spiritual power, he couldn’t have them all memorized.
“You’re abilities. How long have you had them?”
“Since I think I was about 12 ish maybe a little before.”
“What does your abilities consist of?”
“Um….” Eve thought about it and looked to Marcus. She was becoming more and more nervous. she shoouldn’t be saying anything. she didn’t know him. She didn’t anything about people with his abilities. Was he bad. Could she trust him? “I can see spirits and touch them.” She whispered.
“She can do more than that.” Marcus said.
“I saw. You can do a spiritual transference. I don’t know of a person that can do that.”
“Great…But you can see Marcus!”
“Seeing and doing what you can do is two different things. My job requires the ability to see. It was a gift handed down through my blood line, as most gifts are.”
“Well, my parents were normal! Nothing special!” she raised her voice. “I was just born this way. It’s a coincidence.”
Aiden lowered his eyes across her. “There are no such things as conveniences.” He spoke looking back to Marcus and then to the door. “I need to go.”
“Go?” Eve got to her feet. “Go where?” She asked.
“I need to find a Watcher.” He sighed gruffly dismissing the distress in her voice.
“Why?”
“Because this isn’t my--”
“Not you job! I got that part!” She snapped. “But who is a watcher and why do I need to see them? Why can’t you help me?” The desperation in her voice was painful to hear.
Aiden placed a hand on her shoulder. Her eyes were tired, her voice tight and worried. He was doing the only thing he knew he could do, get help.
“This person, the watcher. They will be qualified to give you the answers you want as well as decide your fate.”
“My fate,” she pulled away quickly. Marcus easing up beside her.
“Sometimes people from certain worlds just don’t belong and in some cases Watchers will step in and give them a way out. It’s like getting a pass to ride a very special train.”
“And where does this train take those people?”

Aiden smiled. “To another world.”

I hope you enjoyed this tiny piece of my newest work and are looking forward to reading it. Right now I can't give an exact release date as I am still tweaking my first book, but I hope that I'll be able to say for certain in May when it will be coming out. I can't wait!

A few Questions for the Pulse Trilogy

These are a few questions that I have put together for you about The Pulse Trilogy.
Why the Pulse Trilogy and what was the experience like?
I wanted my own vampire romance, as cheesy as that may sound. I have read many books and when I was younger I had all these ideas on what I wanted to do. So why not create my own. To have an outcome of my own design, though at times it felt as if the characters knew more than me, and most importantly a cast of characters that I had created. I could make them fall in love, or destroy each other with a few simple lines. It was a fun experience and something that I will always remember. Even as I branch out and continue writing I am very happy with my first series.
This whole adventure has been a great learning experience and I have met so many people along the way that have helped me understand just what goes into being an indie author. I am both blessed and honored at everyone I have met. The writers, the reviewers, and the bloggers have all showed me a completely different side to being a writer that I didn’t see when I first dove into this career path last year.

Three things I have learned so far in this journey is:
1.) Don’t be afraid to call on others for help. (Such as editing, cover design, and research)
2.) You’re book wont advertise itself. (Blog, tweet, joins groups, and pass it along to family and friends)
3.) Accept rejection and understand that you can’t please everyone.

Who was your favorite character?

I love my main characters, Elizabeth and Virgil, but if I had to pick a favorite girl I think it would be Bethany, Elizabeth’s friend. Now, my favorite guy would have to be Virgil Hart. I could never pick another guy above him. He’s loyal, courageous, has a big heart, and though he carries a lot of baggage he’s just the right amount of emotion to make anyone love him.

Did you have a song you loved to listen to when writing?

Gosh, I loved listening to Linkin Park, Worn by Tenth Avenue, Adele, Celtic women, Nox arcana, and the epic music to the mini-series the Bible. There were others but these are on a folder I have that I just play over and over until my ears are bleeding.

Who is your favorite couple?

I love Elizabeth and Virgil most of all, but there are two other relationships I have thought about that I completely love as well, and that would be Bethany and Lucas, which you meet in the third book, but they aren’t a couple yet. The second is William and Cassandra. I know we don’t really hear another about them except tragedy, but I love how their story plays out in my head and I have already begun to work on a story to explain exactly what I mean. J

What was your favorite scene to write?

In A Steady Pulse I loved writing the scene with the old brothers (name?). They are fun and loveable and their conversation was priceless. In Barley Beating I loved writing the scene where Bethany and Virgil were face to face in, what appears to be, Beth’s final moments. In Flat Line I would have to say that the death of ____ was my favorite scene…. Oh come on, like I was really going to tell you who died. J

After finishing the book how do you feel now?

I feel so excited because I can now shift some of my attention to many other projects I have in the works.

Will there be more to the series later? Or perhaps a different set of books with a different character in the same world?

I would love to come back to my Pulse World, but not with the same leading characters. Perhaps a standalone finally revealing Garrison’s past, what the hunters are truly trying to prevent from happening, where did the vampires come from, and what happens ten years from when the Pulse series takes place? I’m also thinking a prequel to The Pulse Series exploring what happened between William and his family. These are all things I have running through my head on how I could carry on, but for now I am just going to focus on perfecting the three books I have in the Trilogy.

What’s the next project?

I have many projects in the works that I look forward to sharing with you:
A horror story for October, a new series I want to start in November, a new paranormal romance book called Saving Grace, and I’m working on my middle grade book.
My last project is a fun one. I can finally start creating the world of Middle-Lands and begin plotting out exactly where I would love to take the series. Yes, series. I’m not going to limit this one to just one book or even three this time because the possibilities are limitless! And I’m so excited to get started that I might just skip the other three projects to do this one. haha

Many thanks too:

I would like to thank my husband, Shawn, and my best friend Mi’sha, for helping me break through the concrete walls in my mind that said I couldn’t do this. They are amazing and I might have neglected them both a little too much as I wrote the last book. J Sorry! I love you both so much!
To my blogger and jewelry crafter of a sister, Becky Shelton, thank you for listening to my rants and pushing my ideas further, though I didn’t listen sometimes. And thanks again for reading my very first draft of A Steady Pulse, I know that was probably a little painful. haha

I also can’t thank Ashley Wied enough for making my three wonderful ebook covers. I couldn’t have asked for better images. They are beautiful and you are also such a wonderful person. Thank you always.

If you have any questions for me just post them in the comments and I'll post and answer them. :)

A Little About Me

My name is Brenda Franklin and I was born in the wonderful month of October in Louisiana. I'm the middle child of three, making it an obligation for me to misbehave, and I think I did a good job.

My love for writing came at an early age, having written my first horror story before middle school about a monster that ate people when the lights went off. Yep, I was that kind of kid growing up. The quiet nerdy one to look out for!

You could really tell I was destined for writing when my father came home one day from work with a Christmas present for my sister and me. She received a fun dinosaur book showing details about structures, size, and diet, while I got a troll filled, fairy tale, anthology which I still love to this day.

My love of vampire I believe stemmed when i was around the sixth grade. My father had an old bookshelf in our living room. From top to bottom it was filled with combat related books, old westerns, a stack of dust ridden magazines (I'm not sure he ever read), several Dean Koontz (my sister's favorites), a few Stephen King books, the Necromancer Series by Brian Lumley, and a whole bunch of other things. Wow... that was a lot of books. But the one I remember the most was a book by Anne rice. It was 'Interview with a Vampire'. After reading it, I've never been the same since.

Now, I'm happily married, living out in the country with my family, a few cats (Aki, goldee, Temperance, and Theo), a dog (Virgil), and I'm a writer. What more is there?

I have successfully written a few paranormal romance books. A Steady Pulse, Barely Beating, and Flat Line are apart of The Pulse Trilogy, while I do have a standalone called, Guardian, a Fated Pairing. The fun doesn't stop there, with new ideas and projects started everyday I can see that my future will be filled to the brim with murderers, vampires, werewolves, romance, fantasy, mystery, and much more. I can't wait to share my next adventure with you!
