Eden's Hollow story idea

Prologue:

The Weather was harsh at half past three and the wind was threatening to blow the house away. To be more precise it was just one house. All the other homes down JC Drive were dealing with an onslaught or rain and wind, but nothing to the extreme of house number 4116.

From the outside it was nothing more than the same cookie cutter house with white fences, the perfect cut lawn, and the same two matching trash bins at the end of its paved driveway. There was nothing special about the house chosen - number 4116 - not from the outside, anyway.

But within the white door of number 4116 and beyond the powder blue trim and white paint was a secret. A well-kept secret for nearly a millennium.

A woman, her human name Patricia Faulk - and yes, human is the appropriate term for the creatures that filled her ever growing neighborhood, though she was nothing of the sort. She was guarding a Portal -- placed conveniently in her spare bedroom -- and guard it with her life she would, until this night, September seventh, when a raging storm awoke her from her rest at half past three.

Patricia, whose real name could not be spoken by humans only those that crossed through the portal could wield her name, awake from the cry of the storm and bolted to its source -- the portal! Her slender figure moved gracefully and with ease around her collection of books stacked in high towers throughout the living room and into the small hall. Her long red hair lightly damp from the shower she had taken hours earlier had unraveled and clung across her fair skinned neck and cheeks curling around her cherry red lips and dark brown eyes.

This was not a normal portal crossing.

She fell to the floor and crossed her legs in front of the bedroom door. She closed her hands on her knees, tilted her head back, with closed her eyes to focus. To cross a portal you must first knock on the door and wait for an answer, that was what Patricia was doing.

She was answering.

Reaching a quick mediation-like state her body began to glow and small runes crawled across her arms and legs, across her belly and neck, until her whole body was being blotched out by the blacken ink of the symbols. Her body rose three feet off the ground and those black symbols, one by one, echoed out and appeared around the frame of the door.

One by one the letters glowed, until finally the doorway opened allowing passage into her home. But as the door opened and two people stepped in a third clawed through reaching with bloodied talons out. This was one of malicious intent and on instinct she closed the portal, but the storm remained as the pounding against the magical door continued demanding her to open it.

“Who has stepped through this portal?” She asked pulling from her trance, but her first response was not anything what she expected it to be. It was the wailing of a baby.

She opened the door into her spare room revealing a large man, an Archangel, covered in blood soaked cloth and armor wielding a long golden sword with a white handle and three sets of tattered wings. His body was shaking and mangled as he forced himself up off the floor just barely cradling a small creature whose cries were beginning to wane on Patricia’s nerves.

“Portal master,” he spoke with ragged breath. “I am sorry to have brought this upon you, but I must beg of you to help.”

“Why does an Archangel need my help?” She asked unmoving with cold eyes at the intruder into her home.

“I do not. But she does.” He dropped his sword and held out the little girl for the woman to see.

“What use do I have with that thing?”

“This thing is no mere child.” His body was too worn and tried to hold her any longer. He fell forward still managing to stay on his elbows with her carefully propped up. Slowly and carefully he laid her down. He turned the infant on her side touching the back of her neck.

“What is she?” The woman gasped as a couple of runes upon her body began to appear.

“They are trying to get through.” He spoke.

“Who have you brought to my door?” she demanded.

“It’s the Darkness.”

“What?” she hissed as more symbols lit up.

“And if they get their hands on this child then the Darkness will be released. She needs time to grow strong. To fight this."

She turned to the door and looked to her arms, already her body was shifting and her eyes felt the urge to shut. They were forcing her to open up. “And you brought them here?” She demanded. “You are disrupting the order, the way things are done! You will be punished!” She turned back around to the silence of the room and to the archangel now touching the back of the child’s neck.

His wings dissolved, his weapons and armor faded, and soon his very image fluttered. With his last breath he focused on the portal master sending out a rush of light against her body. Then he was gone.

She turned back to the portal with rage towards the Archangel and did the only thing she could do to save her life from the Darkness threatening her and the life of the child. She had to sever her connection with the other dimension and once severed the first thing she had to do was hide the child.

For the child was something an Archangel would give his life for, she would ensure his last request be fulfilled and pray that death did not soon await her.

Middle Grade Writing projects

I suddenly find myself writing stories aimed more for Middle Grade compared to my normal New Adult and Young Adult works. I don't know what exactly happened. One day I was writing vampire tales, the next i had writers block, and now I have a short Middle Grade done and I'm working on the next. This is the oddest turn of events.

A fresh story sometimes is what the doctor calls for.

The first Middle Grade story I wrote and have set off to the side until I can figure out what to do with it is, 'The Adventures of Kyle and Jordan' book one, My Neighbor's a Vampire. And yes, I said book one. :) I can easily see this as being a series and have already written out a couple of different plot ideas for the next books. If I go anywhere with those I'll let you know.

My next work is the Series Clover Honeysweet, following a girl, turned business owner, turned ghost after drinking tea made by her business partner, Voodoo Mama. It's a funny and charming story with a cast of characters that will keep you coming back for more. My favorite character so far is the werewolf boy Izzy who has to wear a hair net. Yes, the cast are young and going through some very serious matters, such as loan sharks, spirit police, rabbit slime pest control, and much more as they try and keep the Sweet shop up and running.

Two very different stories with characters I adore. I wonder what they will do by the end of today. ...Most likely they will get in trouble and give me a heart attack, but you gotta love them.

BOOK SYNOPSIS

Seventeen year old Aqua Vickers lives a secluded life in the English countryside. She keeps herself that way, hiding in plain sight, out of fear. She has no idea where she came from or what she is, she just knows she isn't human. Her mother is convinced she's an angel, but does having wings make you an angel? Sharp, angular and intimidating black wings?

The only other person Aqua has let into her life is Aaron, her best friend. They've grown up together, shared every milestone and Aqua's feelings for him have developed into something more. In a moment of impulse, Aqua reveals her true nature. Aaron freaks, hurting Aqua so badly that she flees into the night.

Lucas has been watching and waiting. As an Angeli Tail it is his job to be a spy; and he's been ordered to watch Aqua. Lost and vulnerable above the clouds, Aqua is reaching exhaustion. When Lucas offers her the answers she seeks, she follows him impulsively.

In a city, carved into the rock of a mountain, Aqua discovers she's not as alone as she thought; and her life has been rooted on a bed of lies and deception. In her absence, her home is attacked and her mother taken. With this new enemy intent on her capture and new family who aren't all welcoming, Aqua must integrate and train with the Angeli Guard if she has any hope of rescuing her mother from the hands of the Dragone.

The Angeli Guard Master is unforgiving and ruthless, allowing Aqua little rest from his relentless and painful training exercises. Aqua can barely stand to look at him, but can't seem to exterminate the butterflies she feels when he's around.

War is coming but Aqua's battles may need to be fought closer to home.

I run for the car. The mass of people is dense and I keep bumping into dancers, drunkards and idiots – slowing my escape. A pair of hands grab my waist, and I think it’s Aaron. “Where’d you think you’re going?” a slimy voice slurs. It’s not Aaron. It’s the perverted creep from earlier with the taking what I’m offering comment. I spin to face him. “Let go of me,” I seethe. He sneers. “Oh come on gorgeous. I just want to see what you’re hiding under there.” Without warning his grubby hands land slap bang on my cleavage. Jerk! I react instinctively, without thinking I pull my arm back and let my fist fly. It lands with a crunch on the moron’s jaw. There’s a sickening crack but that’s not the worst part. He takes off. His feet literally leave the floor as he shoots backwards and lands on his butt ten feet away. The kids around us fall silent and stare. The guy’s sprawled out, he’s not moving but I know he’s not dead because he’s making a kind of gurgling noise. Someone rolls him onto his side but no one else tries to help him. They’re all too busy gawking at me; standing with my feet apart and my hands in fists by my side, my shoulders rising with my heavy breathing. Aaron comes rushing out of the mass then and takes in the scene. I hate to do it to him twice in one night but I turn and run again. This time he follows. “Aqua! Wait. Stop, please!” I hear his voice but keep running. Tears are falling now. I’m actually crying. How humiliating. I have to control my pace. I can run inhumanly fast, it would draw even more attention. I misjudge it, maybe deliberately, and Aaron catches me by the wrist before I get to my car. I glance behind. We’ve run a long way. There’s no one else here; the party’s in the distance, illuminated by the glowing bonfire. I stop, still facing away from him. He keeps hold of my wrist. “What happened?” he asks, concern evident in his voice. I swipe at the tears marring my cheek. “He groped me. I punched him.” I’m still sobbing but trying my hardest to hide it. “Maybe I hit him a bit hard.” “A bit hard? He looked comatose!” He almost sounds proud. “Are you alright? Did he hurt you?” “I’m fine, not hurt.” I turn then. He takes me in, in all my tear-streaked glory. I bet I look hideous. “Aqua... why did you run?” He asks it softly, watching me with veiled eyes. I know we’re not talking about the punch now. I don’t want this conversation though. “Did you see the guy? I could get eight to ten.” I mean it to sound light-hearted but it comes out sombre. He flashes his dimple. “No. Before, after I kissed you. Why did you run?”

BOOK BLURB/SYNOPSIS

Benedict Nowak bailed on his marriage, taking his son with him but leaving behind his five year old daughter. He had his reasons. He had no idea they’d come back to haunt him.

TJ had come to terms with the mother she despised, making those small concessions that made life bearable. But her mother’s death changed everything.

Her brother, Anton, was the parent missing in TJ’s life, until he found a calling in violence, and left his sister at the mercy of shrinks and a mother with ice in her veins.

Roman Rincon was the juvie rescued by Father Marcus and placed in the care of Benedict Nowak. With his records sealed, no one knew what happened that fateful night when Roman was only fourteen. All Father Marcus knew was the boy had confessed to a crime not even the cops would talk about.

In the small coal mining town of Montville, two teens whose lives have been shattered beyond repair must find a way to cope … with school, with each other, with growing up marked as broken in a town dying under the weight of secrets and lies.

Warned off having anything to do with Roman, TJ is all too willing to agree, except for one little thing. The young man lives in the apartment above her father’s car repair business so avoiding him might be a problem.

As for Roman, he will take his secret to the grave, no matter what the cost.

EXCERPT

Forced into making decisions no young girl should ever make, TJ must deal with her conflicted feelings for a mother who cared only for her career and a father who turned his back on his responsibilities. When TJ’s mother dies, the teen must go live with a father who is a stranger, in a town dying under the weight of poverty and ethnic divisions. TJ’s father, Benedict Nowak, has given Roman Rincon sanctuary. Fresh out of three years in juvie, the only friend Roman has is Father Marcus. The priest convinced the court to remand the troubled teen to Benedict’s supervision. Roman has to keep his head down and his nose clean.

This excerpt is the scene when TJ finally gets to meet the elusive teen.

*****

“Come on in, Roman. I want you to meet...” Ben waved in her direction, “…my daughter, TJ.”

The teen stared, eyes a flat obsidian, framed by impossibly long lashes, the thick brownish black brows creased into a single, disapproving line. Deepset, those eyes were all she could focus on, commanding her undivided attention.

Ben rattled on, “TJ stands for Theresa Jane…”

Throat dry, TJ mouthed a ‘hi’ but it died before her lips could form the word. To her surprise her father wasn’t filling in the blanks like she might have expected, spilling all her particulars.

No … her mother just passed. I’m all she has. Well, Tony also. But Tony’s gone, back to his unit. She’ll be going to the high school. We’ll see the prin—

Instead he’d turned back to his task, shoulders rigid with tension. TJ wondered why.

But then she looked closer at the man hiding behind a boy’s lean and lanky frame, at the sharp planes of his high cheekbones, the cruel set to lips just on the edge of full, a hint of a dimple offset by the tilt of his head that spoke to defiance and self-sufficiency.

The hoodie masked all but his face. Short sideburns shadowed by the fleece suggested raven dark hair. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he wore it long, perhaps in a tail. He wasn’t as tall as her father or Tony, maybe five eleven, but she’d thought him bigger the way he commanded a room, like he’d emptied it of air and filled it with his presence, something physical … and something not. That something seemed to hover in the air currents, leaving her feeling like cannon fodder in a bad horror movie.

She felt the catch in her lungs, the sensation of menace, but refused to look away. She knew all about turf wars from her mother: the legal kind with briefs and a quick wit, the other with self-actualization on each side of a tennis court, the advantage always Eleanore. Mostly she knew about negotiating. About trade-offs. Being bought. Staying out of the way. Rigging the balance sheet so losses looked less like failure and more like incremental skirmishes.

Eleanore cooked the legal ledgers to get what she wanted. TJ leaned toward a slightly different interpretation but both had understood a zero sum game.

Roman had that very special knowledge also. But one thing about him was different: he needed no one, he feared nothing. Of that she was one hundred percent sure.

When he turned away and left without a word, she and Ben breathed a sigh of relief.

Book Review: Derek Agons Slays A Dragon

21423003
Title: Derek Agons Slays A Dragon

By: Samuel tucker Young
Pages: 207
Genre: Young Adult

Blurb:
Derek just found out that the natural disasters he's seen tearing up the world are not just random earthquakes and monsoons. They are the result of a dragon, hellbent on destroying the world as it lusts for the one thing it wants the most; the illuminating book that Derek just picked up in a parking lot off of a talking cat. Failing high school is the least of Derek's problems now, for the book has chosen him as its champion, destined to face the bloodthirsty dragon in a duel for the fate of the world. DEREK AGONS SLAYS A DRAGON is Young Adult Fantasy novel about the absurd journey of a high school junior who gets crossed and double crossed as he traverses modern day America in search of the beast. Accompanied by a furiously curious talking cat, Derek soon uncovers a hidden world deep within his own that is filled with books that glow with desire, an ancient order of talking animals clinging desperately to the past, and a mysterious girl who keeps the world turning. All of that, of course, plus the evil dragon Derek must slay to keep the world from ending.

-------REVIEW-------
Derek Richard Agons is in high school just managing to crawl along. So when his teacher says that he has to attend an event where famous Prometheus is attending and signing books for the extra credit needed to survive, Derek is in no position to say no. And from there, everything goes crazy. Leaving the event Derek sees a dead black cat (supposedly dead) and ends up with a book, a magical book, which will lead him on an unforgettable journey to save the world.
With the cat alive and talking nonsense, the book glowing and guiding him with a beautiful girl, a crazy professor (Prometheus) hunting for it, and a council of animals after the cat and now Derek, there isn’t much room for Derek to catch his breath and fully understand the severity of what is truly going on, until it is too late.
Having faced the dragon, learned the truth, and discovered something evil Derek makes the decision that separates the men from the boys. He decides that there is no turning back. No matter how scared he is it’s all up to him and his new comrades to stop a great evil from destroying he world.
Reading this book it does a bit of switching between views, not enough to through you off, but enough so you can truly get a sense of the severity of what’s to come and not fully grasp whose truly evil and what’s at stake. You’re main characters: Derek, the cat, and Prometheus are all fun. Derek is your hero, Prometheus is the classic villain, and the cat…well, for a while I wasn’t exactly sure what side the cat was on. He’s an interesting balance and mystery to the trio. Granted there are plenty of other characters to love and I did. I don’t want to give too much away.
The main plot for the book, going by the title, would appear to be to slay a dragon, but that is a tad mis leading, along with the design of the cover. The cover made me think this would range in the middle grade area, but it isn't. It's a for sure young adult. Slaying a dragon is a part of the book, but I don’t think it was the focus, though it is a great title and an eye catcher to me. But then again, saying ‘Derek Agons Slays A Dragon’ is so much easier then saying ‘Derek Agaons misguided adventure to slay a dragon by a mischievous cat who unleashes the end of the world’… yeah… Slays a Dragon is way easier.
It is amazing all the detail that has gone into this book and the story told within 207 pages. I stepped back a couple of times to process all the information and then went running to my husband to retell the entire story to him, God, I’m so blessed to have such a great man who is willing to listen to me ramble for hours on end. Haha
When you finish reading the book you are left feeling ready for battle, I know I was. I finished the last chapter and I just wanted to pick up a blade and go forth to help in the fight. Haha So let’s just say that it has a great ending that gives you all the information you need with a lovely little bow on top after plenty of explanations, now, where’s book two? I haven’t heard if there is a second book, but I hope so. I really want to know if we survived. And I will keep you posted on that.
All in all, I believe that Derek Agons Slays A Dragon is worthy of 5 stars and a placement on my shelf next to my Narnia and Tolkien, I know it’s an odd placement, but it’s my shelf. J

-----Excerpt:-----

“You seem to be handling the impossible very well,” Aiden added lowering his hand.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed it yet, but impossible is within my range of possibilities. I’ve always known…no,” she breathed. “I’ve always hoped that there were others. I just… I’m very happy to find another person different.” She hesitated nibbling on her lip. “Are there any others?”
“Lots,” he answered.
“Where?”
“All over, but mostly not here.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean they...” he made a face and paused. Whatever he was going to say drifted off for a minute. “This isn’t my job normally,” he remarked.
“What isn’t?” Eve asked.
“This.” Aiden gestured towards her. “Telling someone, who isn’t familiar about the other realms, about them.”
“That doesn’t make sense.”
“I know. But like I said, this isn’t my job normally.”
“What is your job?”
“I’m a Soul Collector.”
“What is that?”
“I hunt and collect the souls of demons, evil spirits, dark spirits, conjured black souls, and among others things on the darker spectrum.”
Eve nodded. He sounded crazy, but if she hadn’t of witnessed him attacking the Floaters earlier all of this would have been harder to swallow. “And earlier when you stabbed the Floater?”
“I sent him back into the Earth to rest.”
“So colorful lights was?”
“Its soul being taken apart and sent away.”
“Right…”
Eve nodded looking to Marcus who was now all but wall paper in the background listening in closely to all that Aiden had to say.
“How bad has the spirit encounters been?” Aiden asked.
“Getting worse by the hour,” Marcus responded.
“It’s not bad…” she mumbled.
“You are being chased by a Demon and lots of Spirits, I think that counts as bad,” Marcus laughed humorlessly.
“You feel like a magnet.” Aiden said waving his hand over her.
She slapped it away. “Well, I’m not.”
“I beg to differ.”
“What do you mean?” she raised a brow.
“I think it’s you drawing the spirits in. I think something about you is pulling them closer. But what?” He examined her with wonder. Eve felt a pin of uneasiness.
“I don’t know,” she muttered averting her eyes. She locked her fingers together.
“Who are you parents?” he asked.
“Barbra Moore is my step mom.”
“Your real mom and your dad. Who were they?” Aiden demanded as though their names would give all the answers they required.
“I don’t know the name of my real mom, but my dad was Alfred Bradner.” Aiden thought about the names. Neither of which sounded familiar, but he wasn’t an expert in genealogy either. Hundreds of family lines held spiritual power, he couldn’t have them all memorized.
“You’re abilities. How long have you had them?”
“Since I think I was about 12 ish maybe a little before.”
“What does your abilities consist of?”
“Um….” Eve thought about it and looked to Marcus. She was becoming more and more nervous. she shoouldn’t be saying anything. she didn’t know him. She didn’t anything about people with his abilities. Was he bad. Could she trust him? “I can see spirits and touch them.” She whispered.
“She can do more than that.” Marcus said.
“I saw. You can do a spiritual transference. I don’t know of a person that can do that.”
“Great…But you can see Marcus!”
“Seeing and doing what you can do is two different things. My job requires the ability to see. It was a gift handed down through my blood line, as most gifts are.”
“Well, my parents were normal! Nothing special!” she raised her voice. “I was just born this way. It’s a coincidence.”
Aiden lowered his eyes across her. “There are no such things as conveniences.” He spoke looking back to Marcus and then to the door. “I need to go.”
“Go?” Eve got to her feet. “Go where?” She asked.
“I need to find a Watcher.” He sighed gruffly dismissing the distress in her voice.
“Why?”
“Because this isn’t my--”
“Not you job! I got that part!” She snapped. “But who is a watcher and why do I need to see them? Why can’t you help me?” The desperation in her voice was painful to hear.
Aiden placed a hand on her shoulder. Her eyes were tired, her voice tight and worried. He was doing the only thing he knew he could do, get help.
“This person, the watcher. They will be qualified to give you the answers you want as well as decide your fate.”
“My fate,” she pulled away quickly. Marcus easing up beside her.
“Sometimes people from certain worlds just don’t belong and in some cases Watchers will step in and give them a way out. It’s like getting a pass to ride a very special train.”
“And where does this train take those people?”

Aiden smiled. “To another world.”

I hope you enjoyed this tiny piece of my newest work and are looking forward to reading it. Right now I can't give an exact release date as I am still tweaking my first book, but I hope that I'll be able to say for certain in May when it will be coming out. I can't wait!

Book Review: The Weaver Sage book one: Weaver

12721855Title: The Weaver Sage book one: Weaver
By: John Ambrowitz
Rating: 5 out of 5

(First off: The Cover is beautiful.)
Quotes I love:
“Stop trying to protect me. It’s insulting, not endearing.” I love this line said by Moira.
“We’re partners, nor friends.” This line is said from Moira to James and then again it is used from Alex to Moira when she is trying to make a point and I just love the reuse of it.
“Don’t ever call me a liability again,” she (Alex) hissed at him. “I don’t have to,” he (secret) grinned widely. “You’re not anymore.” <- this proves she’s getting stronger. You can’t be fifteen and weak in this world.

-----Blurb:-----

Fifteen-year old Alex Cronlord just met the boy of her dreams. Literally. Unfortunately, the dream involved him killing her. When she encounters him at her school the next morning, Alex understandably freaks out – and her mother’s bizarre behavior only makes it worse. What Alex doesn’t realize is that she can see the future – which will get her into a whole lot of trouble.

Across town, FBI Agent Moira McBain and her partner Andy Hall investigate a series of house burnings in Dallas, Texas. When a clue leads them to the Cronlords, Moira discovers a disturbing link between Alex’s family and her own – which opens an old wound Moira has spent years trying to ignore.

Something is rotten in Dallas, Texas – something involving a secret society, children with extraordinary powers, and human-looking creatures who might literally be out of this world ….
-----Review:-----

Demons (Xorda), secret Societies (Wells Society), and genetically altered DNA (children test subjects!), oh my! First off, I would recommend this to plenty of readers, young adult, paranormal, light Sci-Fi, and thriller lovers.

Fifteen year old Alex is a high school student with a loving dad, a cold, but over all good natured mother, and a best friend that everyone should have. After having a nightmare about being chased and coming face to face with someone that is going to hurt, if not kill her, she is a little rattled. But what makes this nightmare a reality is when she sees the supposed kid at school.

Slowly her nightmare becomes real and with it her normal life as a fifteen year old girl shatters and there’s no way in going back. Secrets about her mother and the people she worked for known as the Wells Society comes into the light and you find out that they are trying to create genetically altered kids, one of which was Alex. Her parent’s marriage ruined, Alex, her dad, and Moira, an F.B.I. agent, have to now stay a step ahead of her own mother to survive. But the Wells Society isn’t the only thing to worry about…

Dipping into John Abramowitz’s world of Weaver you can’t be for certain what’s around the corner. Trust no one.

What I loved the most about this book is that as the story started to unravel he really doesn’t explain who the bad guys are. I mean, you have horrible things, and house fires, and runaways which have murdered and done bad things, but who is truly the bad guy? Do you really know every person as well as you think you do? The moment I thought I had it all figured out I was hit with a twist that I both loved and felt sad about. The story does keep you guessing and it’s great!

This book one hit every mark and then some. There isn’t any real slow places, every scene is needed and some points are referenced back to, conversations are important so you better pay attention, and you’re characters are in depth, lovable, flawed, and kick ass. J I couldn’t have asked for a better crew of characters in this book. The book also had a good ending with plenty of mystery and questions to leave you wanting more, but an ending that satisfied you temporarily. Haha I would still recommend buying the next book, VOID.

---------------EXCERPT------------------

“I have sent one who can save them, but he can also bring about their final destruction.
“You, my Guardians, must seek him out. Protect him and ensure he is guided on the right paths.”
Alorn lifted his great ruby-red head. “Tell us who is he, Lord, that we may fulfill Your wishes.”
“I cannot reveal his identity…yet. Just know there are three who need you now. My power will be seen in all, but only one will be the savior in the end. However, all are needed to bring My Will about, and they must all be protected and nurtured.”
“How will we know them?” Stefano leaned forward.
“All will be children of Brandan or Joachim, and they will blend the lineage of the three races.”
“We know of Joachim’s children, but Brandan has none.”
“He has one, a half Mantion-half human child. Gorou is the third, and he will be the hardest to protect and nurture.”
“Why a child of Brandan?” Cielo asked. “Brandan has already chosen the path of evil time and again. Would not a child of his be exposed to that same evil?”
“Although, he fathered the child, Brandan knows not of his existence.

Sanctuary of Nine Dragons: Book Three

King Brandan: King Brandan returns to the Palace of the Twelve Pillars even more cocky and sure of his place than when he disappeared. He makes some bold, selfish moves that will get him banished from the palace. We see even more of his disdain for his brother and wife.

As he travels on the prison ship the beginning s of a different perspective begin to emerge in his field of vision, but when his ship is wrecked and he is presumed dead Sidramah is able to fully infiltrate his person and a Brandan who is wholly evil emerges. He is worse than Waldrom he makes Waldrom look like a nice person as he ravages the lands starting with the Mantion, leaving a trail of death and destruction in his wake.

King Joachim: The kidnapping of his infant son and the disappearance of his brother finally pushes Joachim over the edge. As he sinks into despair he rejects Asha and his family. He embarks on a journey to find his son in spite of the odds against a successful journey.

He rejects Asha and his family swearing that he can and will do it on his own, leaving Maeve to rule the country.

Prince Airyn/Aaron: Son of Maeve and Joachim. He is kidnapped and disappears when he is an infant.  A magic spell is cast on him so that he will not be recognized and he is left in the care of a knight in Joachim’s army. He stutters when he is afraid or nervous which is most of the time, especially around his younger more talented brother. He champions the underdog and befriends a crippled Mantion. He attends the school for knights and adepts but does not think he belongs there, but instead should be tending a farm somewhere. His younger brother bullies him and he tolerates it although if severe enough or directed at his friend is quick to anger and strikes back. Unfortunately he usually comes out the loser in the confrontation so he has learned to control his anger.

Princess Enit: Daughter to Maeve and Joachim and twin sister to Airyn. Although a coddled and protected princess she chafes at the constraints placed on her by her position.

She is much like her father in her stubborn bull headed behavior. She does thing s without thinking and has to endure the consequences of her decisions. She resents her father’s lack of attention to her and his unceasing search for her missing brother. The one thing she longs for, desires the most is his love and attention. She is head strong.

Gorou: Son of the Mantion, Derdrom. He is the underdog. He has a short leg which causes him to limp. In spite of his infirmities he is a gentle loyal friend.  He cares for sick animals as well as people and is in training to be a healer at the same school that Aaron and his siblings attend. Most of the time he does not let the fact that he is picked on bother him. But he will jump to Aaron’s aid if he sees that Aaron is being pushed too far. He may appear cowardly and wimpy but behind that mask is a fighter and loyal friend.
