The Curse of Maleficent
based off of the Disney movie

Aurora has always enjoyed her simple life. She loves to explore the beautiful woods surrounding her quaint cottage. She even likes living with her bumbling yet well-meaning aunts. But when Aurora discovers a dark secret about her past, her whole world turns upside down. Will she be able to save herself from an imminent curse? This beautiful novel filled with whimsical illustrations tells Aurora’s story in the upcoming Disney film, Maleficent.

Alice in Zombieland
Gena Showalter

She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.
Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

Undead and Unemployed
Mary Janice Davidson

Nothing can make Betsy Taylor give up her shoe fetish - even dying and rising as the Queen of the Vampires. Being royally undead isn't all it's cracked up to be - there are still bills to be paid. And Betsy is determined to live as normally as possible, even if it means getting a job. A "feet" she accomplishes with panache, landing her dream job selling designer shoes at Macy's.

Things couldn't be better - except for her new friends, who keep pestering her while she's on the clock. As if she has time to socialize when there are deliciously sinful shoes to try on - and buy at a discount. It seems that vampires are being murdered in St. Paul, and they're all clamoring for Betsy to do something about it. the worst part is she's going to have to enlist the help of the one vampire who makes her blood boil; the oh-so-sexy Sinclair. Now, she's really treading on dangerous ground - high heels and all.

Book Review: Black and Blue

Title: Black and Blue
Author: Gena Showalter
Series: Otherworld Assassin, book 2

Purchase it here: Amazon

Corbin Blue, professional football star and black Ops agent, is one of the most powerful otherworlders ever born. Everything about him breaths power, seduction, and danger. When his team is attacked and separated he ends up going to his boss’s daughter-a woman who is off limits to him. Or so he is forced to remind himself as, Evangeline Black’s life becomes a part of a more dangerous game. But as the pieces begin to fall into place and all the players are revealed can Blue really keep her safe and complete the mission? Will he be able to safe the ones he loves? Or, will he lose everything?

Gena Showalter’s Black and Blue Otherworld Assassin novel is finger licking good. This book is filled with vivid settings, a plot that keeps you on your toes, characters you want to dip in honey and devour, and a dialogue that you won’t be able to get enough of. Missions, weapons, neat-o toys, and plenty of delicious scenes as Blue and Evie fall head over dangerous heels for each other. This book is the kind you don’t want to pass up.

My favorite scenes are when Blue is digging through Evie’s purse. Now, please pay attention. This does not mean it’s okay for any normal man to go digging through a woman’s purse (pausing to glare at my husband).  What makes these small scenes cute and hilarious is everything Evie has turned into a weapon, her explanations, and Blue’s excitement to know that this woman can take care of herself in such crafty ways. Example being a glass eye…yeah, you’re going to have to read to figure out why she has a glass eye in her purse.

I can’t wait to read another Otherworld Assassin book.

5 out of 5
